Where on Earth . . . ?
We can't be quite sure if
Daniel Boone had statehood on his mind when he came
through the mountain passes and first glimpsed the
lands which would become Kentucky . . . but might he
have been in a "Harrison County state of mind"?
While it is rumored that "Ol' Dan" once visited the
county for a brief spell, many tens of thousands who
followed in his footsteps have come to call Harrison
County "home." A few got their
education and got out, others were just passing
through, but many more made the county's communities
their home for a lifetime, got schooled here,
attended church here, and in the end . . . took up
permanent residence in a local or church cemetery.
